Deeper Connection necklace set

Custom Jewelry ProjectsPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, August 01 2017 03:14PM
It's that time again for another behind the design of a custom design I was working on. This set was for my godmother's birthday. Each year it's getting harder and harder to top the design before for her. Luckily, I know the type of design she likes. So let's so behind the design of this piece which I'm calling Deeper Connection.

Like always when I'm working on a piece I gather all the elements in front of me and see where it goes. This time I grabbed a bunch of coco pukalet beads in brown, some brass drops, agate beads, carnelian beads, glass beads and some aluminum chain to round it all out. I definitely knew I wanted this necklace to have the aluminum chain in it for sure.
I then cut a piece of wire, attached a crimp bead and added a jump ring. I got to work on unique combination of beads and some brass drops. (Shown above is what I came up with) Totally random and got it the first time around.
I then measured the bead combination and came up with the remaining length of the necklace which I divided by 2 and got the length of chains I needed.
I then added an additional jump ring and the chain to each end of the bead mix strand.
To finish off the necklace I added a jump ring and a lobster clasp . While the other end I added two jump rings.
And the necklace is completed. It's the perfect length and lays beautifully.

Now if you know me I can't make a necklace without including the matching pair of earrings. So I had a ton of supplies left over and I carried over the same elements into the earrings.
I found some bead caps while pulling out the headpins and decided to use those to flank the carnelian beads. I took 3 coco pukalet bead and put those on separate head pin.I then combined the two elements together but it was missing something so I took one of the brass drops and added it the mix. Added the ear wires and it's complete.

Here's a better look at the completed earrings. I think I knocked this one out of the ball park and I can't wait to get my review from my godmother. So what do you think?!?!
