I've been slipping in and out of a reading slump since the end of last year. I have so many books to read but no ambition to read them. I bought I'm Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi around my birthday last November. Since I heard her on Myleik Teele's Podcast I knew I had to get the book. Luvvie was HILARIOUS. I've been reading this book off and on since last year. I can usually finish a book within a week but for some reason I've been picking up and putting down this book.
Don't get me wrong it's GOOD but my mind just can't stay focused enough to read it through. I have 86 more pages left and is determine to finish it before this month is over.
If you don't know Luvvie by now you've been living underneath a rock. This book has reach the NY Times Best Sellers list. She's doing speaking engagement all over the world including the White House. But enough about her because I can go on and on.
Luvvie touches every topic you can imagine from friendships to racism to rape to social media to business. She touches them all and then some. She tells it like it is and is funny while doing it. I read some of the reviews before opening it and just had to shake my head. Some people just don't get it but it's her opinion on these topics. She never said she was an EXPERT.
I really should of been keeping notes while reading this but there was so many times I had to stop and read my sister a couple of lines with tears in my eyes from laughing so much. A couple of times when she talked about racism I had to put the book down because what she was saying was so true and it had my blood boiling. She talks about the topics that people are too scared to talk about. That we all sometimes brush underneath the rug and hope it goes away but when you pull back the rug it's still sitting right there. Even though I haven't finished it I will tell you that you HAVE to read it. It's a must read. I'm looking forward to her next book. I follow her on Instagram and Twitter and highly suggest that you do too.
If anything that you take from reading her book is she makes you think about the topics she discussing. She makes you talk and want to discuss them with your friends and family.
Don't walk, run to go read her book. Don't read the reviews like I did. Actually read them. They'll make you want to read what the BAD reviews are talking about. Because they just don't get it. They really don't.
What are you reading? I'm always open to book recommendations.
