On January 12 we had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Sweden to visit my sister and her in-laws.
The first day we arrived we walked around a bit and ran across this beautiful church which isn't too far down the road from where my sister lives.
As you can see it's absolutely gorgeous. Definitely an architectures dream. After walking down a zillion stairs and stopping in the post office we came upon the square which features a beautiful fountain. During the summer time we were told that they have festivals there.
The fountain features 6 statues of women of different origins (African, Buddhist, Grecian, Indian, and the other 2 I can't figure out).
What I love most about Sweden is the cobbles stone streets and rustic buildings. As you can see from the photo.
On our trek back to my sister house she wanted to show us this really old Church which has been around for many, many, many years.
It was closed for renovations so we weren't able to go inside.
We trek further up the hill or incline and came to a the most beautiful view of Gothenburg.
The following day went to the market place to eat lunch before doing some shopping.
Stalls full of yummy breads, cheeses, meats, chocolates and the list goes on and on.
After dinner that night we went on a evening stroll through the streets of Gothenburg and ran across one of the oldest streets/neighborhoods. (Can't remember the name.)
Then we proceed to walk through the park. Which my brother-in-law said is there form of Central Park.
But with the steepest inclines known to man. I think we literally walked off all our food that we ate at dinner that night. I woke up the next morning with my legs killing me.
Over the weekend, we went to visit my brother-in-law parents in the southeast of Sweden and northwest. So from the city to the country we went.
Some of the most beautiful views I've seen.
We stopped along our way to see a tourist spot which features a military fort which is over 300 years old. Which was built before the United States was even found.
After an amazing lunch cooked by my brother-in-law's father, we went sightseeing in his town.
We checked out the families summer cabin and boat that is used all the time during the summer.
Overall the trip was amazing. We were being told to come back in the summer and I think we will. Can't wait to see everything in bloom, the ships out in the sea and everyone enjoying the beautiful views.
If you ever get the chance to go we highly suggest going. It is definitely worth the long flights.
