Spring Bucket List

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, March 21 2017 01:45PM
Happy Spring!!! It's finally here even though Mother Nature still refuses to warm up permanently.Nevertheless, it's time to do my spring bucket list.Just like previous bucket lists.I used a blank sheet of graphic paper in my planner and used stickers from Create 365 The Happy Planner Seasonal Value Pack Stickers to create this bucket list. I made sure to include items that I would actually do realistically.
This spring bucket is way easier then other bucket lists in the past. I love spring because the farmer markets are back in full swing but this year might be harder to find one because the one I usually frequent is no longer around. But I'm determine to find one if it kills me. I'm always baking so baking cookies I'll probably do next week. Probably some nice lemon cookies. Fresh and tart. I can't wait for it to get a little bit warmer. I miss bbq-ing and food fresh off the grill. Yum! Spring cleaning. Does anyone want to help me? I'm planning to do a little bit at a time. Starting tomorrow to be exact. Just as soon as it get a little bit warmer I have to picnic all planned out at Prospect Park. My mother gets cooked for a daily basis so that one is already done and completed. Valentine's Day has already came and went and I actually made a Valentine. If you remember my open letter. I handmade the whole thing. My father loves kits and it will take him back to his time back home in GT. I heard Dollar Tree has some good ones. So I'll check them out and hopefully they have one so I can fly a kit with my father. Lastly, pick fresh berries. I'll knock this one off my list if I find a good farmer's market to shop from.

So as you can see my bucket list is easy peasy. I should be able to knock each task off easily. I'll check back at the end of spring and let you know how I do.

Are you doing a bucket list for spring? If so, what's on your list?

Being a Woman in Your 30s

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Friday, March 17 2017 09:25AM
I wasn't sure if I wanted to do this blog post this morning but finally decided what the hell might as well. Being a woman in your 20s and a woman in your 30s is too different entities. By 30 at least you should know and I say "should" know yourself. Let's first take a look back at my glorious 20s in pictures.
By 19 I knew where I wanted my career to go, when I wanted to get married and when I wanted to have kids. I had it all planned out. What I learned between 20-21 you can plan all you want. Being a Scorpio I love being in control and I had to learn the hard way that I wasn't in control. God was. He knows when, where, what, who and why. At 20 I was in my last year of college about to graduate. Between 20-21 my life took a dramatic turn and I had several life changes that made me grow up faster then I would have liked. But I'm convinced it was all supposed to happen. By 23 I was working as a designer in the fashion industry here in my hometown of NYC.That year I made several life changes along with several life changes. I learned the hard way about family you've known from birth can turn on you in heartbeat, my mother was hospitalized and could of possibly died, my last living grandparent passed away, I moved away from my hometown and started a business. All of that happened in a very short period of time. A lot I know.

Between 24-27 I was feeling the shift from not being home in NYC and living down south among my father's side of the family. Being in a whole new environment. I was loving my life, the people in it and I was growing in myself. In my teens to early 20s I was partier. I had no desire for it. I would rather spend time at home or with my family or quiet time with my boyfriend at the time. I was growing into myself.

By 28-29, I can home to NY more frequently and hung around my old friends. They were doing the same thing when I left. I realized when I said certain things to them they would turn the conversation around and make it all about them. Nothing of substance. So guess what I did, I put everyone to the test and if you didn't pick up the phone to call me. Because I realized I was always to one to reach out to people .BYE.

By 30, I knew the type of people I wanted to have around me with my mother diagnoses of cancer and her going through treatments you realize what's more important. I never had a huge amount of close friends. I've always knew a lot of people but that close friends I could count on my hand. I knew I couldn't depend on them even when I needed them most. God gave me two sister and I'll hold them closer then ever.
Now at 33, I feel like I'm still evolving but into a woman I love. My twenties and living in the south among my father's family has brought my personality at home to the forefront. I'm a chatterbox at home, goofy, loud, feisty, a fire ball. Now everyone sees it. Oh, I forgot opinionated. I used to bite my tongue and keep my mouth closed to not stir the pot because I knew what I was going to say was to ruffle some feathers. Now, it's not that I don't care but I have an opinion too and I want it to be heard. I like what I like and if you don't oh well. It's not about people liking me. You don't like me.Oh well. I don't care what people have to say about me. I don't because people will always talk.About what you do, how you look and what you say. But one thing you will do is give me respect. I don't plan too far into the future. I leave it all in God's hands. Yes I want children, yes I want to get married. When will it happen I have no clue. I don't force things. What my twenties taught me is to be flexible. So in my thirties, I'm flexible to change.I don't fight the current.

Life is about growing and learning about yourself. I can only imagine what my 40s, 50s, and 60s have in store for me. I can't wait for the journey.

What have you learned about being a woman in your 30s?

Weekly To-Do List

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Friday, March 10 2017 01:53PM
For anyone who's into planning or just staying organized then you might enjoy this blog post. I'm going to share with you my weekly to-do list and how I create one. If you follow me on Instagram then you already know that I'm into planning. You see my weekly spread but what you don't see is my running to-do that sits in between my cute spread.
It houses everything that I don't have scheduled on a specific day but needs to get done that week. Also a shopping list of things I may need to pick up at the store, plus my workout schedule and how much water I'm drinking.
The back side of that grid paper houses a habit tracker of tasks I do on a daily basis, dinner tracker, and if I have any appointments or phone calls I need to make go to the bottom of that.

So now that you see what a finished weekly to-do list looks like let's create one. It's super easy and I'll show you how.

You're going to need the following.
-A sheet of grind paper ( I use the Recollections Grid paper)
-Stickers ( I use Me & My Big Ideas 1829 sticker book, and stickers by Create 365 The Happy Planner)
I then cut down the grid paper to the size I want.
Note: I don't choose colors randomly with my stickers. They also coordinate with whatever theme I choose for that week. Let's start with the actual To-Do list. I take a To-Do sticker for that and put that at the very top of the page. I normally put a checklist flag but I didn't have any in the color I need so I put down 5 yellow stars.
I then put down a purple To Buy sticker and a purple checklist. For anything I may need to buy for that week. Pretty self explanatory.
Since they're is doctor's appointment this week I put down a Dr. Appt sticker then a Gym sticker for my workout schedule and a hydrate sticker.
Now onto the other side. I first put down a Dinner Time sticker to write down what I had for dinner during the week.
I always put down some motivational sticker at the very top of the page. This time I chose, "Let's Do This". Got to keep myself motivated to get stuff done. Every bit helps.
Time to build my habit tracker. I go across and put the initial for each day of the week and I then put lines to space out what I want to track. You can put anything. The possibilities are endless.
Then underneath the Dinner Time sticker going downward I put the initial for each day of the week.
I then moved the gym sticker from the front to below my dinner's so I would have more room to write out my workout schedule.
And this completes my Weekly To-Do list. Pretty simply right. With things you probably already own, a piece of paper and a pen. I would love to see how you create your weekly to-do list. Feel free to share.

February Must Haves

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, March 07 2017 10:23AM
February was a super short month and with that being said. The amount of favorites I have this month has doubled January's. There was so much stuff I was loving and using on a daily basis. Unfortunately, no jewelry or accessories due to me wearing $1 studs and hoop earrings.
So lets get into my favorites because we might be here for awhile.

If you follow me on Instagram then you know I'm into planning. I love my 1829 pieces sticker book from me & my BIG ideas. I use this thing weekly in my planner. From my weekly planner spread to my grid extra that I put in between my spreads.
This stickers are perfect for functional planning. and commonly be found at Michael's for $19.99 and up. I can not plan without this thing.

Yet another planner related item. I own several font stamps but this one has become my all time favorite to use in my weekly spreads to stamp out the month. Number one, the font is clear. The stamps takes well to most inks I've used and don't take little to no pressure to get a clear stamp.Cleans off easily too.
I purchase them a while back from Michael's in their $1.50 section. It's by studio g. A great buy for sure.

I went natural over a year ago and Eco Style Gel is a coveted item to my hair routine. I live by my gel. I really need to buy stock if it's available because they get so much of my money. I can literally go through a container 16 fl oz in a month or two.
This one is the olive oil one and I use it every time I style my hair. Wash n' go's, twist outs, ponytails, braid outs. It's my holy grail. I recently ran out of it and was too lazy to go the beauty supply to buy another one.So I used another gel that I had laying around. Boy did I regret it. My twist outs and braid outs didn't come out as good as they normally would.
It's a gel constancy as you can see and despite it being a gel it's super light weight and doesn't weigh your hair down. I never had flaking from it. I'm dying to get my hands on the new one though. I haven't seen it in stores yet. So you know how that goes.

I think I literally tried every edge control on the market. This one by Design Essentials Natural Honey & Shea Edge Tamer in Firmer Hold is the business. I first used this months back on my sister hair when we installed her faux locs. It was laying around on my dresser ever since until one day I picked it up and used it in my hair. Girl, let me tell you this is the best edge control for my hair.
It was once clear but with my bedroom getting warm it melted several times over and re-harden. But nevertheless, it still works the same. When I want a sleek two strand twist braids or a two regular corn rolls or a high ponytail or even if I twist my hair this baby never lets me down. It even lasts for several days. This item is pretty affordable for an Design Essentials product $11.99. You can find it at your local beauty supply, Target, Walmart and the Design Essentials website.

Now if you know me I live by my Lotta Body with Coconut & Shea Oils Moisturize Me. I think I can finish a bottle in a month or two. Especially now that my mother is natural and I basically take care of her hair for her. Between the two of us I say a month tops now. I use this in all the styling of my hair in combination with the Eco Styling gel. Twist outs, braid outs, twists it does it all. It not only helps style my hair but is also very moisturizing. It helps that it smells great too. You can find it at your local beauty supply, Target and Walmart. Price range around $3.99 .

My sister is a product junkie and she came across this while browsing the aisles in Ulta. She ended up not like it and guess who she gave it to.Me. When I first tried it 2 days in I thought it was drying my face out but we realize the air in NY got really dry all of a sudden.I amped up my moisturizer and problem solved. So I continued using the Nip + Fab Hydrate Dragon's Blood Plumping Serum. It says on the bottle it delivers a instant shot of moisture with hyaluronic acid to hydrate for plumper skin. Velvet flower to enhance moisture and dragon's blood comforts and restores skin hydration.
With all that said it does leave my skin hydrated. I've tried several serums in the past but those being an oil or cream. This one is a gel and I think that makes a difference in how it works. I can automatically feel my skin sucking it up. It doesn't just sit on top of my skin. My skin does feel firmer and stays moisturized throughout the day with and without makeup. Retails at Ulta for $19.99 but on sale for $16.99.

My final favorite is an mascara. Benefit they're Real! Recently mascaras have been irritating my eyes but this one doesn't. I've heard mixed reviews on this mascara and both my sisters hate it . I like it. I have no lashes unlike my younger sister and this one give me some plus more. Not only makes them fuller but makes them longer too. I'm a huge fan of Maybelline's Volum' Express The Falsies mascara and it give me the umph that Falsies does.
I think the barrel wand makes the difference. So I will repurchase this baby in the future.

Whew, that was alot of stuff. I can only imagine the amount I'll have next month. What were you loving last must? I'm dying to find out.

Sonic Where Have You Been All My Life

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Friday, March 03 2017 02:59PM
Sonic, seriously where have you been all my life?!?! Yes today me and my sister got our Sonic cherry burst. We were like kids in a candy store when we saw it was open. Being a New Yorker we're constantly bombarded with Sonic commercials but guess what. There is no Sonic anywhere to be found. Not any more. Thank you lord.
We hit the car park like our lives depended on it and got our order on. It was so cute to see the staff on their skates. Some on the regular 4 wheels that we grew up on while others had their roller blades on. Shuffling from car to car delivering everyone's orders. You wouldn't believe me if I told you the line for the car park was as long as the drive thru. LONG. 20 minutes later our order arrived.
I got a vanilla milkshake while my sister got a strawberry milkshake. As a New Yorker I grew up on White Castle milk shakes which are good but thick. This one rivals theirs and win. It's not only thick as hell but sooo good. I'm still nursing it while I right this post. This one is a medium.I can only imagine what a large looks like. I would show you my Sonic burger but I kind of ate it. Do you guys remember when McDonald's used to put mustard on their burgers? This one had that plus pickles galore and the grease was dripping .I enjoyed every bite of it. My sister says it's better than Shake Shack.I told her not to knock Shake Shack. They're still good but Sonic hit the spot.
I got onion rings instead of fries . They were so good. This bag was filled full.
My sister was laughing at me because I took her leftover fries and added it to my onions rings. You can't waste it.The fries were like how Burger King and Wendy used to have their fries before they changed them. So good.

Sonic gets a A+++. And no, I'm tell you the exact location because we can't have a frenzy at this location. Just look up the local location in and around Brooklyn. You'll find it.
But can you tell how much we were enjoy our shakes. Yum! Back to slipping on my shake I go.

Book Review:Lead & Deep by Kylie Scott

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Friday, February 24 2017 11:26AM
I've been sent a few books in the past months for review and if you know me I love to read. So I'm in heaven. A couple of months ago I was sent via. the publisher two books in one by Kylie Scott, Lead and Deep.
Let me first say I've never read any books from this author but after reading these two books I'm a fan and plan on reading more by her.So if enough chit chat onto the book review.

Lead by Kylie Scott smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lena is hired to be the keeper (aka babysitter) of Jimmy the lead singer of Stage Dive. Their relationship from the beginning is one of push and pull. Their comeback again is one of the best I read or seen. But their chemistry is sizzling. Lena has a history for baby boys but she didn't expect her professional relationship with Jimmy to turn into something else and that's exactly what happened. No matter how she tried to ignore her attraction to Jimmy it only grows to the point where Jimmy makes it his business to turn it off.So Jimmy goes on a mission to hook her up unsuccessful to three separate guys due to him sticking his nose in too far. But this whole time from the very beginning Jimmy had his eye on Lena. He finally confesses when he realizes they should just sleep together hoping that her attraction to him goes away. But it only intensifies it. It intensifies it to the point where Lena says the I love you which makes Jimmy run for the hills. He went from being friends to boss and employee. It was so bad that Lena made Jimmy fire her.Lena leaves and heads home where he sister is getting married to her ex. During the reception Jimmy shows up and explains how his mother always told him no one will ever love him. Lena gets him to realize that everything he said he likes about her and so on is his love for her. The book ends with Lena returning back to Portland with Jimmy as his girlfriend and not his employee. If you love fireworks then you'll love this book. Tons of fireworks, emotional ups and downs, and chemistry. I highly recommend this book.

Deep by Kylie Scott smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

This book features Lizzy who is the little sister of Anna and Ben whose Stage Dive's bass player. Everyone tells Ben to stay away from Lizzy but he can't help himself. Well Lizzy did chase after him. So much so that they're one night stand in Vegas results in Lizzy getting pregnant. We go on a emotional journey of these two going on tour with the rest of the band with their significant others. Ben doesn't set down roots. He lives in hotels and jumps on other bands during Stage Dive's down time. Lizzy comes from a broken home and never expect to have kids. She's only twenty-one which everyone loves to remind her. When Lizzy just can't take Ben's hot and coldness toward her and decides to go home. Ben finally wises up when he realize he might be losing her and his child for good. He realizes that she's his world, his home and he loves her. I'm happy they finally get their ish together just in time for their birth of their son. This is the last boo in this series but I would love it to continue with Ben's sister story. Despite her being a royal pain in the ass. This one was shorter then Lead but nevertheless still go. A good read since we finally figure out who Ben was texting while on his date with Lena in Lead.

These books were book 3 and 4 in the series and I have to read 1 and 2. I have to find out the stories of the rest of the band. What are you reading right now? Inquiring minds want to know.

How Do I Stay Creative

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Friday, February 17 2017 11:08AM
The struggle is real some times when it comes to stay creative especially when your field of work is to be creative and produce creative items. Sometimes you can feel overwhelmed to produce, produce, produce. Here's some of the things I do to keep my creative juices flowing.

Back in college when I was going to school at night and worked during the day I was always creative at night. Now that I work from home and I tend to work during the day time hours I'm creative during the day. First figure out the time period when you feel the most creative. For some it's during the day time. For others it's during the night.

Next you need to find your medium to express your creativeness. Whether it's paper, pencil, pen, an instrument, clay and etc. Mine happens to be drawing, jewelry making and sewing. When I feel creative I have to do it then which results me making my pieces in batches. Just keep creating until you can't create any more. When you feel like that's it. Stop.

Music is key to helping me stay creative. I love playing upbeat music like soca, dancehall or the latest hip hop. The more upbeat the better. Spotify your favorite artist and turn up the volume and create.

Get rid of all distractions. Tell everyone to leave you alone from a certain time period, close the door and let your creativity flow. I always get more work done period when no one is home. When everyone is home I just can't concentrate because I know every 5 minutes someone is going to say my name and want me for something.

One last tip to how I stay creative is to make the space where you create inspirational. Paint the walls a bright and cheerful color. Create an inspiration board of all your favorite things on a cork board and put it up on the wall. Have all your mediums out on your desk in cool cups so that they're easy to reach. If your space isn't creative then you won't be creative. It's that simple.

I hope this helps you stay creative. Feel free to tell me how you stay creative. I would love to know.

January Must Haves

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Friday, February 10 2017 09:52AM
For January I really had to rack my mind and think what did I love for January. What was I using a lot. Gradually, one by one I finally figure out what my must haves for January were. I really don't know how people do this every month. I barely came up with 3. Well some is better than none.
It's really a mix of things when you look at it.
With my younger sister being a makeup artist I always get random bits of makeup. She recently gave me a new foundation because with it being winter in NY and I'm not getting any sun I'm back to my original skin tone. So for the entire month of January I've been wearing Makeup Forever Mat Velet+ foundation in color #77. With me having oily skin this foundation is perfect. Oil-free and is just like the bottle says matte. It's not a matte that makes you look dead but a matte that makes your skin look like your skin. I put my makeup on roughly around 5:45am and don't take it off until around 4-5pm. That's a good length of time. Normally around 3-ish I see a bit of oil in my t-zone but it's a dewy oily not a oil slick mess like with other foundations. I highly recommend this foundation if you have oily skin and want a matte finish foundation that last a good amount of time before you have to blot your skin. I give it an A and when I finish this bottle which will be any time now. I'll definitely buy a new bottle. You can find it at Sephora .
Now this next item(s) I have been using is planner related. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I'm into planner stuff. I try not to post too much but enough to show it's a interest. Anyway, my most recent spreads I've been using full weekly kits from one particular creator. Jessica Brown or MyPlannerEnvy. First off all her stickers are printables and they're free on her blog. I found her on Pinterest which lead me to her blog. She not only has sticker samplers but functional stickers of all kinds for all types of planners. I literally spent one entire day and two packs of labels printing her stickers. What I love about her stickers is they're different especially her sticker samplers. All the big shops are doing the same thing which results in everyone having similar layouts. B-o-r-i-n-g. If you're new to the planner world this is a good way to get your feet wet without spending a ton of money. I don't have a Silhouette so I had cut these with an x-acto knife. It's takes a bit longer but well worth the effort.Check her blog out you won't be disappointed and definitely join her Facebook group. She's always adding new stickers to her blog.
First lets discuss how beautiful this cover is. It's actually more beautiful in person. It's The Girl in the Garden by Melanie Wallace. I was sent an advance copy by the publisher for a review in December but finally got around to reading it in January. Which took all of January because I wasn't in a real reading mood but I knew I had to read it. When I saw this cover on Bookstr I knew I had to put in a request for the book. Here's my short but sweet review I left on Bookstr.
"Firstly this book's cover is beautiful. The book was well written and I love how all the character were intertwined together. You got to know each characters back story that lead them to the current date in the book. What lead to their circumstances and isolation. The book might start with June but ends with Iris's sad end. Overall, a great book and story. I highly recommend this book and the story is as beautiful as it's cover."

I might of had only 3 items for this month but lord did I give you my opinion on them. It's no telling what I'll love for February. You'll just have to stay tuned. What we're you loving for January? I'll love to know.
