Feature of the Week: Bidwell Botanticals

FeaturesPosted by Gaetana Saturday, December 21 2013 09:29AM
I came across a wonderful business that I had the opportunity to share one of my pieces in exchange for some of their wonder products. The company happened to Bidwell Botanticals.
As you may all we very aware of, I'm a bath and body head. Especially soaps and bath bombs. So deciding to exchange one of my pieces with Jill of Bidwell Botanticals was a no brainer. The owner, Jill is very sweet and professional. The box of goodies arrived very fast and when I opened it I was stunned by how beautiful it was packaged.
I'm a lover of beautiful packaging and I've seen a lot of them but this is the first time from a soap seller that I've seen packaging this beautiful. Before I even opened it I had to show it off.A+++ for packaging . It shows that they business truly cares how it's product arrives and in a way it's a lil' gift that business has wrapped for you.

When I finally did open it I was hit full on by the scents and smell of the soaps I had picked out.
I chose 4 soaps:Peach Sorbet, Cranberry Fig, Blackberry Sage and Tangerine Patchouli. Once again, let's talk about the packaging. Wow was my first thought. A ton of thought went into each scents box. Each box represent the scent to a tea. It's like the box was plucked from that fruits tree and put in box and shipped directly to you. Product packaging is a A++++. Definitely one of a kind and something I would expect to see in a high end boutique. Or even in a luxury hotel.

Each bar of soap is 4oz and on the back of the box it tell you about Bidwell Botanticals. Which is handmade artisan soap bars made from the finest natural ingredients including pure vegetable oils, moisturizing butters, beneficial botanical extracts, and soothing essential oils and fragrances. They retail for $6.50.

Here is closeup on the 4 bars I received.

Cranberry Fig

Blackberry Sage

Tangerine Patchouli

Peach Sorbet

Aren't they beauties?!?! Each one smells delicious. A unique feature that I noticed on the boxes itself is 3 holes for the soap to breath. Now before this I would of thought this as strange but this past summer I had a soap seller explain to me why soaps need to breath and so on. This is the first time I've ever noticed this feature on an actual box of the soap. Another feature that makes Bidwell Botantical fantastic.

I had left the soaps on my desk after shortly arriving and when my sister came home she literally stole one of the bars. The Tangerine Patchouli. So I'll have to wait on her take to write a review on that one. It'll be great to hear what she thinks.

But anyway, I had the hardest time choosing which one to use first. So I went peach. I received the soaps on 12/5 and I finished the bar on 12/20. I normally with handmade soaps take a butcher knife to them and cut them in half. They last longer this way but with this one I decide to use it like any other store bought soap and use the whole bar.

The box says, " Delight in the juicy scent of Georgia peach drizzled with decadent cream and honey. This gently cleansing soap combines luscious peach kernel oil and moisturizing shea butter to help soften and soothe your skin." Personally, I'm not a fan of anything peach. The fruit itself, candies and so on. So when I chose this one I was taking a leap of faith and omg. Coming home every day after an exhausting day and taking a long bath and then bathing with this soap is heaven. The peach scent is like more a citusie scent to me. Very soothing and relaxing. In the fall and winter months my skin is even more dryer then spring and summer months and with all the oils that this soap has it makes my skin happy. To be more exact it features palm oil, rice bran oil, palm kernel oil, shea butter, peach kernel oil, and vitamin e. All things that made my skin happy. I still needed to moisturize after my baths but my skin wasn't as dry as it normally was.My skin felt clean and soft. Now, let's talk about how it works in the bath besides the smell and how it made my skin feel. Despite all the natural oil and butters the soap may feature it lathers better then some store bought soaps. When I say it lathered, it lathered. How did I store my soap after first opening it. Because of the holes in the box I said what the hell my soap needs to breath and it last longer in a container then just sitting in the soap dish. So I stored my soap right in the box it came in. With the three holes in my box my soap was able to breath and which might have made it last from the 5-20th. It still lathered the same each time and smelled wonderful.

Do I highly recommend Bidwell Botanticals? I do! Give them a try and you won't be disappointed. I'm a little sad my peach sorbet is done but I look forward to trying one of their other scents that I have.I'll keep my fingers crossed that they perform the same as the first bar I tried but I haven't no doubt in my mind that it won't. If I had a list of top 5 soaps sellers Bidwell Botantical made the list.

Feel free to check out Bidwell Botanticals at

Beside soaps you'll find an array other bath, exfoliates, moisturizers, soaps, pedicure products, and gifts.

Every holiday season around this time my team on Etsy (Jewelry on Etsy Team) exchange Christmas gift aka. Secret Santa. This year I had the wonderful opportunity to receive some amazing pieces from fellow artist Wanda of Gemstones on My Mind .

I received this beautiful packaged boxes and sweetest notes.

How cute its this box?!?! Yes I'm a sucker for packaging.
Oh course I open the box with the truffle first. Yummers! What girl doesn't love chocolate.
Then I opened the snowman box and I was hit with most beautiful green set.
Aren't they beautiful. When I gave my likes and dislikes for the Secret Santa I had listed that I love earth tones and greens especially at the moment. But what I forgot was that I hearted a pair of her earrings and put them in my birthday wish list.

She remembered and since they sold out she made another pair with a matching stretch bracelet set.

The earrings are called "Czech Earrings, Czech Bohemian Earrings, Brass Dangle earrings ,Green Beaded earrings." As per the name they feature Czech glass beads. The beads feature variegated shades of green with lemon, lime and olivine blending into the design.

The bracelets are a set of 3 stretch bracelet which feature the same Czech glass beads and brass.

I was excited about the set I wore it the next day but I didn't like the photos so I deleted them. Any woot, the set is warm and earthy and so versatile.

If you're a lover of handcrafted and unique jewelry in a variety styles, colors and textures. Check out Gemstones on My Mind. Wanda's shop is full of beautiful jewelry.Browse around and you'll be sure to find something for yourself.

Thanks, Wanda once again for my set. I love it and will treasure it.

Feature of the Week:Komfort Zone

FeaturesPosted by Gaetana Monday, July 22 2013 12:24PM

I came across Komfort Zone at the International African Arts Festival Fourth of the July weekend. I'm a sucker for handmade soaps and they look and smell too good to pass up.

I met the owner and her nieces. They were so sweet and knowledge about their products which is always an added plus.
All of Komfort Zone Soaps are cold-processed and all natural handmade locally in Fairfield County. They're made with a skin-nourishing special blend of Shea and Cocoa Butters, Olice, Coconut,Castor,Almond, Babbasu and Palm Oils.

I had my eye on two different soaps but opted for Lemongrass and Grapefruit.

Omg, it's heaven. I've been using it since fourth of July everyday and I'm in love. Besides it smelling delicious, it's so nourishing to my skin. I have a tendency to forget to lotion my skin after getting out the tube and with this soap I don't have to worry about that. Literally the next morning I'm expecting to be a ashy mess but I'm not. With all the different oils that are used in the soaps it keep my skin very moisturized. I literally don't have to put as much lotion has a usually would. It lathers like any traditional soap. Plenty of bubbles.

I give this brand on quality and customer service an A+++. I'll definitely will be ordering again really soon. It's always great to find a brand that does it right and Komfort Zone hit the mark.

They offer handmade soaps, gift sets, candles, body butters, bath salts and cute tees. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Feature of the Week:Ambition Box

FeaturesPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, May 07 2013 02:33PM
It has been a while since we did a feature of the week but it's time to get back into the swing of things.

This week's feature of the week is Ambition Box. You may ask, what is Ambition Box??? As you may know subscription beauty or even lifestyle boxes are all the craze. Ambition Box is slightly different because they include beauty and life style brands. They are a monthly subscription box (1 month, 6 months or 12 months available) and the give the consumer the opportunity to sample different brands.

Ambition Box is founded by two sisters, Monee and Marissa. Their goal is to make custom style boxes each month to tailor to each subscriber tastes. The subscriber would take a detailed style quiz which include cosmetics, skincare, hair care, fragrance, bath & body and etc type of questions. There main goal is to empower their subscribers and to ignite the Ambition with them.

The important part to stress is that the products you will receive is sample size. Hence it being a sample box. It's very rare that in any sample box in any company out right now that you will receive a full size product except for maybe Curlbox.

Now onto the good stuff. We got a lovely surprise at Satin Doll & Co. from the Ambition Box ladies. A commentary sample box which was so sweet of them. Before I literally hand it over to my sister here's what was included in our box.
First off they arrive in a white box filled with peanuts so your goodies don't get damaged in the mail.Your sample box arrives in a white bottom box with a clear top and the Ambition Box logo on the front. Inside we had a beautiful handwritten note from the Ambition ladies. The goodies are concealed by purple tissue paper. If you didn't know the Ambition signature colors are purple and pink just like Satin Doll & Co. pretty cool.

Then you open the tissue paper and you got all your goodies.
Since we aren't a subscriber we have a mix of everything but if you are a subscriber the samples included would be based on your quiz. So remember that. Each box is different and catered to the subscribers likes. No two boxes are alike.

Now onto the brands included.
Uprising Botanicals:Handcrafted Bath & Body Products-Pomegranate Lotion
I'm not a huge fan of anything pomegranate but despite the smell the lotion is very good. A good consistency, very moisturizing and smooth. A nice sample size to keep inside your purse or include in your travel bag.

Sugarfoot & Company: Sweet.Simple.Pure Bath Products-Oatmeal Cookies Body Wash
I'm a sucker for bath and body products and this one I'm going to enjoy. If oatmeal really had a scent it would be just like this.Sweet, not overpowering and light. By shaking the bottle it's not one of those body washes that really thick. It has a good consistency.Definitely can't wait to try and a good sample size. You might be able to get up to 2-3 showers out of it.Perfect to include in your travel bag.

Olivella: The 100% Olive Concept
- Bath & Shower Gel in Bagno & Daccia Gel (0.1 FL oz)
We received 2 packet in our box, which would be great for 2 showers. It says it's lightly scented of mediterranean citrus fragrance.Sounds yummy! It's dermatologicality test and cruelty free which is an added bonus.

Show Stoppers: Stop the Peep Show- 2 Nude Strips
The product I absolutely love and can't wait to try out. Being a woman with boobs and always worrying about if I'm showing too much cleavage. These should be sold in every local drugstore,Walmart and Target. I'll definitely put these to the test.

TheraBreath:Professional Formula
-Fresh Breath Toothpaste (0.75 oz)
It's funny how this one is in my box even though I knew it was one of the partnered brands. I was having a conversation with a friend about his coworker who has very bad breath.I know it's mean but this product might be exactly what they need.Anyway, their promotional card says for bad breath and they can guarantee to stop it. Use code AMBITION to get 15% off your order of $20 or more PLUS FREE SHIPPING in the US and Canada . I will be passing this one on to someone who needs it.

Nikki's Magic Wand
This product I should of had last month when I reached the end of my concealer and couldn't get the rest out of the very bottom. It might look like a tube of mascara but up remove the top and it has a long wand and a scooper at the end.The scooper get all the product left in the bottom of containers that you can't reach.Definitely will save me and my sister for sure a ton of money.Every woman should one of these.

Lolablue:Indulge Yourself.Respect Mother Earth
-Jasmine Green Tea Natural Soap
I'm a huge fan and lover of soaps and this one is yummy.Smells exactly like jasmine and green tea.Not strong or overpowering. I'll have to do a detail review on how it lather and etc but I look forward to trying it out. They're located in North Port,FL and their products include natural raw ingredients and are hand-crafted. Enjoy $3.50 off until June 1st when you use the code:Ambition1 .

Now my closing remarks on this box.Regardless it was sent me as a thank you and I wasn't paid for this feature and review if I was a subscriber I would of been happy. They feature a good mix of products.Besides one item (TheraBreath) ,I can't wait to try everything else out. For $15 for a one month, minus the bracelet we included which retail for $17. This box is a good value.Plus it include several coupon codes to use toward future purchase. Do I recommend this box, I say yes. If you're looking for brands you haven't hear of before go for it. Try it out for one month and if it's not your cup of tea cancel but it gets my seal of approval.

Good job Ambition ladies, from the packaging to the brand included to the handwritten note and to shipment time. You receive a Grade A.

Feature of the Week: Angelica Hill

FeaturesPosted by Gaetana Monday, May 21 2012 04:58PM

Feature of the week is officially back and I'm going to start off with a H.S. friend of mine who is just starting out. Her name is Angelica or Angie is what we like to call her. Angelica makes some amazing hoodie scarves, shawls, flowers and etc. I love to show my friends support so enough talk and onto the feature.

1. Tell us about yourself.

I am 29 years old, born and raised in Brooklyn- in a Christian up bringing . I like helping people and catering to people whether through food, hanging out or making them feel good through conversation or word(s) of encouragement.

2.What are you currently doing besides your creative craft?
Beside my craft, I work full time with mentally disabled adults.

3.What do you offer?

In my product line I offer hoodie scarves that easily worn by pulling it over your head instead of constantly wrapping a 10 ft long woven material around your neck to fluff up for warmth. The hoodie scarves cover you head and warms the side of your face as well. Also, my head bands (ear warmers ) are fleece insulated unlike the ones you see in the market that is thin. For my shawls, they are a semi substitute for the hoodie scarf. The end of the hoodie scarf rests on your shoulders and can be pulled down to your arms. While the shawl can be worn just to keep your back and upper arms warm or to cover up your back.

4.Where do you create?

Creativity starts in my mind . It's funny how one day I was started a hoodie scarf for one of my friends and the pattern twisted and not consistent. The more I kept going around and around the more it looked twisted but cute. At first, it looked like a bow tie and then looked like a SHAWL. I thought to myself I just made something new from a mistake! Hey!

5.Where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from looking at other products or clothes and seeing where I can make it. Either to wear or just something new that I create on my own.Another inspiration that I have is just wanting to make people look good. Also, creating things from my own hands or creating something that no one would ever think to wear a certain anyway.

6.How did you get started in your line of business?
How I got started initially was when I learned crocheting in my teens from a lady in my church. She taught me and I never picked it up until 2011 when I needed something to do. All these different ideas started to pop up in my head and they turned well. It started with the hoodies scarfs and it just evolved from there. Also, listening to advices from Gaetana, my family and someone else I know that once worked with a big-time designer telling me to never think small. To try to think big and keep creating. Keep doing what I'm doing and don't stop.

7.How do you promote yourself?

I promote myself through word-of-mouth and social networks like Facebook & Instagram.

8.What is one of your most important lessons you've learned since starting out?

Presentation is everything. That first impressions are everything and feedback or no feedback is always good. Not everyone is going to latch onto your craft but you have to keep going and putting what you create out there. I also learned that it's important to network and speak to people in the business.

9.Where can we find you online at?
I can be found on Facebook @darknlovely (Angelica darknlovely Hill ) or on instagram darknlovely_xo or you can email me at .

Now you see what I'm talking about. Isn't her work amazing!!! You guys know how I love handmade products and showing support to small businesses like myself. I'm definitely going to have to get one for next fall and I hope you do the same.

The Autumn Soap at the Soap Seduction

FeaturesPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, December 06 2011 09:53AM

All this year, I really haven't bought any handmade soaps from my favorite shop the Soap Seduction. I've been watching on the low and on Cyber Monday while I was on Facebook I noticed her great sale she was having. You know I couldn't resist, so I caved in and bought 2 soaps. One being the Raspberry Creme Cold Processed Soap and the other Spiked Orange Shea Butter Soap (The Autumn Soap).

Since I purchased the Spiked Orange Shea Butter Soap for the first time, I decided to do a blog post on it.
On first appearances it is a very pretty soap with the swirls of purplish black. On first smell, I smell licorice which isn't one my favorite scents. But when you smell deeper, you smell a hint of clove, orange and cinnamon.Which is exactly how the owner Patrice describes the soap. Definitely a spicy soap that represents autumn to the tee.

When bathing with the soap, the soap and it's spicy scent blankets you and makes you think of playing with leaves in your backyard.Well at least me. Like always the soap lathers amazingly. Hands down all of the Soap Seduction soaps lather the best.Even better then your name brand soaps.

Would I purchase this soap again? Maybe. Because of the licorice scent, it throws me off a bit but it is a true representation of autumn. Patrice has hit another home run with this one.

I already spotted my next purchase, Lavender Rose Tallow Soap. Stay tuned for that one. And if you want to see our review Raspberry Creme Cold Processed Soap, click here.

If you haven't check out the Soap Seduction yet I highly suggest you do. You find them on Etsy and on their Website.
