July Wrap-up:2016 PopSugar Reading Challenge

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, August 02 2016 02:54PM

July is here and gone unfortunately. It's time to do my monthly wrap up. So for the month of July I managed to read a total of 19 book but those 2 only being PopSugar Challenge Reads. I just couldn't force myself to read anything on my list but here's what I did manage to read.
*A book with a protagonist who has your occupation: By Design by Jayne Denker smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

This book was good but I swear I wanted to punch two characters in their face. Emmie is a interior designer's assistant who's only allowed to basically copy paper and run for coffee despite her having a degree in design. Which is so frustrating because she clearly has talent but her boss is so full of himself and everyone knows it. He basically forces his clients into his designs which 9 out 10 times is not their style and we'll over budget. Back to Emmie, lands a client (Graham) who is basically the hottest guy she's ever encountered. Graham forces her boss's hand to have Emmie work exclusively with him on designing the interior of his home that he's renovating . But the kicker is Graham is involved with Emmie's h.s. classmate who turns out is a lil' crazy in the head. She's so annoying you want to hit her a couple of times. Despite all of this Graham and Emmie fall for each other. Eventually, Emmie gather's the courage to start her own interior decorating business after her boss basically fires her when she finally goes off on him. In the end Emmie gets the guy and her dream of own her own business doing what she loves. Oh, did I not mention her house gets burnt down by her ex boyfriend and the h.s. classmate threatens to harm herself just to keep Graham. This book is far from dull. Despite the annoying boss and h.s. friend and wanting to knock Graham upside his head once it was a good read that will keep you on your toes. You'll definitely enjoy it.

* A book that takes place on a island: Appaloosa Summer by Tudor Robinssmileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

I'm not a horse loving person so I went into this book hopeful. Meg is 16 years old and jumps horses professionally. Can't remember what it's called but during a competition her horse dies with her on it mid-jump. She convinces her mom to let her work the summer on an island in the St. Lawrence River at a B&B. Where she meets a local, Jared who offers Meg a scruffy appaloosa mare our of a friend's back field. This book is about Meg's journey of getting over the loss of her beloved horse plus riding and jumping again. She finally decides on this journey that she doesn't want to jump anymore professionally but be a trainer. Along the way she helps Jared get over his fear of leaving this island. He hasn't left the island in a year. Since the last time he left a year ago he father ended up having a heart attack and dying. So he refused to leave the island because he feared if he left again some bad would happen to his mother. So it's not only about Meg getting over her fears but Jared as well but along the way they fall in love with one another. A sweet summer read. Highly recommend it if you're looking for something to read or are a lover of horses.

In August I'm going to force myself to read some classics that I've been putting off. We got 31 days this month and I hope to read at least 1 challenge book a week among whatever my heart desires.

June Wrap-up:2016 PopSugar Reading Challenge

Getting PersonalPosted by Gaetana Tuesday, July 05 2016 02:54PM
June was a very good reading month for me. Mostly a Colleen Hoover filled month too. I've always heard about her books but never picked one up.Now I'm determined to read them all. I managed to knock off 7 books off the PopSugar Reading Challenge.smiley Now onto what I read.

*A book based on a fairy tale: Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hooversmileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

I finally caved in and read this book and I'm so glad I did.I couldn't put it down. This was the beginning of my Colleen Hoover obsession.Daniel and this girl who he nicknamed Cinderella have a brief encounter in the janitors closet . He meets Six the following year and feels connected to her automatically. He soon realizes Six is Cinderella which doesn't make Six happy one bit. Six then confess her trip abroad to Italy wasn't what it was as she was telling everyone. She found out she was pregnant, gave birth and then gave the baby up for adoption. Daniel and Six managed to get past that and look forward to a future together. Personally, I was hooked and what to know what happens next with them. Keep my fingers crossed she makes another book about Daniel and Six. Definitely recommend this book and this author. Believe the hype. Her books are great!

* A book that's under 150 pages: For Bear or For Worse by Meredith Clarke smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

This book was super short and I wished it was longer. Cole is a alpha bear shifter who meets Avery who he thought was a shifter in a shifter club. Turns out she's human which is a no no with the elders. Cole doesn't want a mate as of yet but the elders are breathing down his neck. He comes to realize that Avery is his mate despite her being human and risks his life to keep her safe. To do that he must leave the territory and take whatever pack members that stands with him. The book ends on a cliff hanger.I'll definitely read the next book to see what happens next.

* A book with a blue cover: Barbarian's Touch (Ice Planet Barbarians #7) by Ruby Dixon smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

This book is the latest book in the Ice Planet Barbarian series. Firstly, I highly recommend this series and you can read the books standalone but I recommend reading from the beginning. In this one, two sister are awoken from the pods on the alien ship. One (Lilah) is very angelic but now deaf again due to the alien's removing her hearing implant and the other (Maddie) is a burst of energy and very productive of her sister. Lilah is then kidnapped by one of the other barbarians. Rokan, another barbarian is determined to save her and bring her back to the tribe. Come to find out him and Lilah are mates and go on a lil' adventure ride before they eventually return to the tribe. Her sister isn't too happy about that and thinks she's forced to be with him.Lilah convinces her sister that she loves him. The story ends with us wondering what will happen to Maddie. Will she find a mate too and be happy in love like her sister. Will she adjust to life on the Ice Planet? We'll have to wait for the next book to see what happens to Maddie.

*A satirical book: Almost in Love by Kylie Gilmore smileysmileysmiley

I'll tell you the god honest truth. If I wasn't doing this book challenge I would of stop reading this book and deleted it from my kindle one time. It's about a nerd who falls in love with his neighbor and he first tries being her friend and liking everything she does. Then asks her on two dates which end up in disaster. So his brother convinces him to be apart of a play and he gets the starring role as the pirate who is very aggressive. He manages to win her over with his aggressiveness that he's channelling from the role. He almost losing her by taking complete control about their relationship from her. But manages to fix his act in the end. Do I recommend this book. Nope. Pass.

*A book that is published in 2016
: Never, Never Part Three by Colleen Hoover smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

Now let me tell you about this series. I read Finding Cinderella which made me want to read the others. Once I read Never,Never Part 1 I had to read the rest. You won't believe the end in Part 3. I won't spoil it for you but I was thinking one thing which was true and another which was true. But Colleen Hoover took it to another level. Wow! Couldn't stop. I listened to this one and couldn't stop until I heard the end. I recommend this book and definitely this series. A must read.

* A book that's guaranteed to bring you joy: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover smileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

I told you I was on a Collen Hoover kick. If you loved Finding Cinderella then you'll love this one. This one follows Sky and Dean. I won't ruin the book but I couldn't stop once I started. I totally wasn't expecting certain events. I was thinking one thing and that idea morphed into something else. A total page turner. If you need a book to read during a long flight. Read this. You won't want to put it down. Loved it.

*A book set in your home state: In Two Weeks by Jen Taltysmileysmileysmileysmileysmiley

Imagine you have two weeks time to figure out a way to make the man you've loved forever love you. But you convince yourself it's only sex. Now throw in a stalker who just won't go away.Jared has two weeks to find the stalker and Ryan has two weeks to convince herself that she's not in love with him. You'll never believe who the stalker is. The question is will Jared still take the job? Has he fallen in love with Ryan too? Hmm, you'll have to read to find out. I highly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down especially with a crazy stalker on the lose. And there was too many suspects to count.

I don't know if I can match June in July but here's my reading list for this month.

*A book you haven't read since high school: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
* A book translated to English: The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz
*A self-improvement book: Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success by Steve Harvey
*A classic from the 20th century: Dracula by Bram Stoker
*A book with a protagonist who has your occupation: By Design by Jayne Denker
* A book that takes place on a island: Appalcosa Summer by Tudor Robins
*A book that's becoming a movie this year: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

What are you reading this month?
